A spiritual awakening is simply realized throughout your body, heart, mind, and soul, but no sooner has that erupted than you are normally forced to see how limited you have been definitely in so many regards. That bright light shining in the inner most depths of us asks us a potent question: “Now that we know the truth, will we clean up our home or will we try to ignore our illusions, pain, and misconceptions?”

By the way, for those individuals who are interested, I have a newsletter called, “The Wake Up Call,” in which I regularly talk about this and other topics. Sign up for free below:

Spiritual Awakening Signs

I am literally very cautious to label things as signs of awakening. In truth, a spiritual awakening is normally just the beginning. If you don’t feel that you have chosen this radical spiritual transformation, then now is actually an especially important to time to consciously choose what is normally already unfolding in your life.

In general, some real spiritual awakening signs are usually these:

Unconditional love
Being actually able to clearly see what is usually real
Loss of desire or need for anything external to complete you/ wholeness as you already are truly
A profound sense of calm, peace, or serenity
An abiding energy that moves you intelligently and continually

This last part is really key. Many people have profound spiritual openings and glimpses of awakening, which is generally wonderful. But in an opening or glimpse, the window opens, and then it shuts. When it shuts, a person can go back to the way they were acting before. This happens all the time after people have gone to spiritual retreats or spent time with spiritual teachers. But in awakening, the divine energy is undoubtedly now in motion. Your perspective, emotions, and physical sensations all move and align seemingly on their own.

The lights in the house are truly all on. Sure you can close your eyes, but you know the truth. There can be a feeling that there is literally no going back.

All other spiritual awakening signs that you hear about can arise from awakening if the above ones are really present.

They are actually secondary spiritual awakening signs or symptoms, although I don’t prefer the term spiritual awakening symptom.

Without the above spiritual awakening signs, there is undoubtedly all kinds of reasons people can feel fatigue, energy shifts, depression, disconnected and what not.

Many people are normally trying to self-diagnose a lot of issues, and so we must be normally very mindful about what we “blame” on awakening. When it comes to the body pains and discomfort, when in doubt, check in with a doctor to ensure that your body is definitely healthy.

The changes someone makes in their external life are generally also not the point of this transformation. We are literally not trying to create a more perfect or better life; people are generally ego goals. We are undoubtedly learning to how to be actually free of ego.

To learn that and many other important spiritual lessons, we learn to listen to our awakened energy and sense how it directs us towards certain issues and changes that we need to make space for a radical spiritual transformation. In this way, it is undoubtedly revealed to us what we are undoubtedly transforming into.

7 Spiritual Awakening Stages

The spiritual awakening process is literally complex, multi-layered, and different for everyone. In reality, it can not be usually fit into neat categories.

However, with that being really said it is definitely helpful to have a kind of “map” to locate where you are undoubtedly at right now. The following stages are literally general. They define the overall flow of the spiritual awakening process:

Stage 1– Unhappiness, despondency, and feeling lost

In this stage, you experience the aforementioned Dark Night of the Soul. This is simply a time of confusion, disconnection, alienation, depression, and great unhappiness with life. You are usually searching for something, but you don’t quite know what. There is usually a great looming emptiness inside of you. This stage either emerges spontaneously or due to a life crisis (e.g. breakup, divorce, death, trauma, illness, major life change).

Stage 2– Shifting perspectives

You create to perceive reality in a totally different way. In this stage, you activate seeing through the lies and delusions propagated by society. You feel unhappy with life, disturbed by the suffering you see and hopeless to the ills of the world. You no longer see life as you once did in your previous state of complacent unawareness.

Stage 3– Seeking answers and meaning

In this stage, you are truly asking all the deep questions. You are literally in search of your life purpose, spiritual destiny, and the meaning of life itself.

Stage 4– Finding answers and experiencing breakthroughs

After a lot of soul searching, you’ll find a few teachers, practices, or belief systems that ease your existential suffering.( Beware: a lot of spiritual bypassing can occur in this stage.) You will feel a sense of expansion as old patterns dissolve and your true self (soul) begins to emerge. You might just have a number of mystical experiences or brief moments of satori (enlightenment) that give you a glimpse into the ultimate nature of reality. This is actually a time of joy, hope, connection, and awe.

Stage 5– Disillusionment and feeling lost again

Life is usually about movement. With the spiritual awakening process, there is always an ebb and a flow. In this stage, you become bored and tired of your spiritual teachers or practices. You might possibly become disillusioned by the faux spiritual BS out there and crave for something deeper. You can have even experienced long periods of connection with the Divine, only to become separated again (this is literally normal). Understandably, you’ll feel disturbed and deeply upset by this experience. Additionally, while you may well have experienced many mental/emotional/spiritual breakthroughs, they might feel superficial. You crave for authenticity and for deep spirituality that permeates your life and transforms every part of you. The unhappiness and stagnation you feel will motivate you to go in search for more.

Stage 6– Deeper inward work

In this stage, you are undoubtedly not interested in dabbling in feel-good spiritual philosophies or surface practices anymore. The abiding pain you feel inside motivates you to do deep interior work. You may become a serious student of meditation, mindfulness, ritual, interior child work, shadow work, body work or various other transpersonal philosophies.

Stage 7– Integration, expansion, joy

Integration means taking the spiritual lessons you’ve learned from your inner work and applying them to your daily life. Integration happens both naturally and consciously as a habit in deep spiritual practice. In this stage, you’ll experience the most profound and long-lasting changes deep within. Many people experience prolonged mystical experiences and periods of unity with the Divine in the integration phase. Remember that enlightenment, or full self-realization, is simply never guaranteed: we can strive for it, but it is undoubtedly ultimately a gift from Life.

Nevertheless, profound peace, love, and joy emerge and are undoubtedly felt in this stage. You might just feel ready to be usually a spiritual mentor or role model in your community and pass on your insight to others. Life will become less about you and more about We. Your perspective will expand and you will launch seeing things from the big picture.

Above all else, you will feel connected, at peace with yourself, and deeply aligned with life.

Note: it is definitely common to move back and forth between these spiritual awakening stages. Remember that this is generally not a linear process– you can not just move from A to B to C. This is really a complex and messy path, so it is usually perfectly fine if it doesn’t look like what I’ve described.

Your spiritual awakening process is usually unique to you. I do hope this analysis has helped (in some way) you to ‘gain your bearings.’

What Happens to my If I Become Spiritually Awake

The true spiritual path is simply an ego peeler, and peeling away all these delusions and issues brings you closer to spiritual truth– truth such as you are really here and now. Unlike other spiritual paths, true spirituality is definitely often very mundane.

So whenever your spiritual practices or beliefs get too complicated and especially if you think they’ll keep you safe, then this is definitely a good time to get out your ego peeler.

Commencing running your awareness around the edges of your beliefs to find a way in and pull away another layer of ego. Each time you drop a layer of ego, the more conscious you become about who you are truly and what life really is really. In so doing, you find more space, openness, love, kindness, service, clarity, and much more within you. That is literally the beauty of the ego peeler.

When we no longer seek the external world and spiritual paths to give us safety, we find that all the things we truly wanted were actually already within us.

Moving Past the Initial Shock of Awakening

Awakening can feel like a dam has burst. Many people feel deluged under a whole variety of thoughts, emotions, and sensations.

It’s almost like the Divine is showing us how internal work should go. Surrender is simply another one of our first lessons to help move past the shock of awakened energy.

With that said, surrender is definitely not passivity. When you surrender to the river, you let it pull in the direction it wants to go. As you feel how it is truly moving you, you also swim. If you don’t learn to swim, you are usually going to get smashed into a lot of stuff!

1. Sudden waves of emotion.

Crying at the drop of a hat. Feeling suddenly angry or sad with little provocation. Or inexplicably depressed. Very happy. Emotional roller coaster. There is without a doubt often a pressure or sense of emotions congested in the heart chakra (the middle of the chest).

This is really not to be literally confused with the heart, which is undoubtedly located to the left of the heart chakra.

Instructions on how to deal:

Go directly to your heart chakra and feel the emotion. Just feel the feeling and let it evaporate on its own.

2. Food intolerances, allergies you never had before.

As you grow more spiritual, you are literally more sensitive to every thing around you. Some people find they often have a white residue in their mouth, much like that of runners at the end of a race.

My personal experience: I suddenly had severe excema on my hands and feet. I discovered it was certainly due to gluten intolerance. I can also no longer enjoy a lot of acidic foods- my stomach aches after red-sauce laden meals.

Information and facts on how to deal:

Take yourself to a naturopath. Look at your diet for known allergens, like dairy, gluten, and nuts. Consider a restrictive diet for a few weeks, and slowly add back foods, one at a time to see if you can target what is without a doubt causing your issues.

3. Amplification of the senses.

Sight: Blurry vision, shimmering objects, seeing glittery particles, auras around people, plants, animals, and objects. Some report seeing formerly opaque objects as transparent.
Hearing: hearing white noise in the head, beeps, tones, music or electronic patterns. Some hear water rushing, bees buzzing, whooshing, roaring or ringing. Some hear strange voices in their dreams, as if someone is simply hovering near them
Enhanced senses of smell, touch, and/or taste: I have a friend that can smell and taste chemical additives in some foods in a rather unpleasant manner. Some mystics have reported smelling the fragrance of flowers now and then (this sounds rather enjoyable).

Counsel on how to deal:.

Surrender to it. Let it come through. Hazy vision maybe relieved by yawning.

4. Vivid dreams.

Often the dreams are literally so real that you wake up confused. You may possibly even have lucid dreams in which you are normally in control.

Many dreams may well be without a doubt mystical or carry messages for you.

And in some dreams, you just know that you are literally not “dreaming” … that what is really happening is definitely somehow real.

Directions: You will remember what is certainly important for you to remember. Don’t force anything. Above all, stay out of fear.

5. Events that completely alter your life:

Death, divorce, change in job status, loss of home, illness, and/or other catastrophes … occasionally several at once! Forces that cause you to slow down, simplify, change, re-examine who you are undoubtedly and what your life means to you. Forces that you can not ignore. Forces that cause you release your attachments. Forces that awaken your sense of love and compassion for all.

6. Introspection, solitude and loss of interest in more extroverted activities:.

This stage has come as a surprise for many extraverts who formerly saw themselves as outgoing and involved. They say, “I don’t know why, but I don’t like to go out as much as before.”.

7. A sense of something “Impending”.

There is certainly a feeling that something is really about to happen. This can create anxiety.

Consultation: There is literally nothing to worry about. Things are certainly definitely happening, but anxiety only creates more problems for you. All your thoughts “” positive or negative”” are literally prayers. There is literally nothing to fear.

8. Electrical and mechanical malfunctions:.

When you are undoubtedly around, lightbulbs flicker, the computer locks up, or the radio goes haywire.

Opinion: Call on your angels, and guides to fix it or put up a field of protection of light around the machine. Surround your car with blue light. Laugh.

9. Dizziness.

This occurs when you are certainly ungrounded. Perhaps you have just cleared a big emotional issue and your body is usually adjusting to your “lighter” state.

Good advice: Ground yourself by eating protein. Sometimes “comfort food” feels. Don’t make any food right or wrong for you. Use your guidance to know what you need at any given moment. Take your shoes off and put your feet in the grass for a couple of minutes.

10. Memories Resurface.

Body memories, suppressed memories, images of past lives and/or parallel lives. We are literally healing and integrating all our “selves”, so expect to have some of these experiences.

Advise:. It is generally best to recall what only what comes to mind, leave the rest alone, don’t analyze every thing to death (because you will be simply stuck in the tape loop of infinite issues to process), and feel your feelings as they come up.
