My spiritual awakening process.
I experienced the beginnings of my spiritual awakening about3 years ago. At that time, I was undoubtedly deeply entrenched in the lessons and cultish teachings of the fundamentalist Christian church I was definitely born into.
Beginning to doubt, question, and sense that there was normally more to life than what my indoctrination declared, I felt lost and deeply alone.
I had no one outside of the church that I felt comfortable talking to about my feelings. I had no true friends to confide in– and my family didn’t understand– or rather, didn’t want to. As a result, I felt so alienated and suffocated with loneliness that I developed depression, health issues, and chronic anxiety, the latter lasting for many years.
I looked around the internet for any sign that could help me surf this confusing time. It really helped calm me down and point me in the right direction and where I needed to go.

Spiritual Awakening Signs
I am generally very cautious to label things as signs of awakening. In truth, a spiritual awakening is without a doubt just the beginning. It is usually the light coming on in the house so that you can see everything for what it is definitely. Now comes the need to clean-up, heal, and expand your space. All of this comes in a rush of intelligent energy. Sometimes, it can feel so strong that the unconscious ego that might perhaps be generally clinging on will feel like this is without a doubt all “happening to you.” If you don’t feel that you have chosen this radical spiritual transformation, then now is simply an especially important to time to consciously choose what is usually already unfolding in your life.
In general, some real spiritual awakening signs are usually these:
Being generally able to clearly see what is real
Loss of desire or need for anything external to complete you/ wholeness as you already are
A profound sense of calm, peace, or serenity
An abiding energy that moves you intelligently and continually
This last part is really key. Many people have profound spiritual openings and glimpses of awakening, which is usually wonderful. But in an opening or glimpse, the window opens, and then it shuts. When it shuts, a person can go back to the way they were truly acting before. This happens all the time after people have gone to spiritual retreats or spent time with spiritual teachers. In awakening, the divine energy is now in motion. Your perspective, emotions, and physical sensations all move and align seemingly on their own.
The lights in the house are certainly all on. Sure you can close your eyes, but you know the truth. There can be definitely a feeling that there is no going back.
All other spiritual awakening signs that you hear about can arise from awakening if the above ones are without a doubt present.
They are definitely secondary spiritual awakening signs or symptoms, although I don’t prefer the term spiritual awakening symptom.
The word “symptoms” has connotations of experiencing a disease. You are simply being certainly cured of the illnesses in which you have been actually living.
Without the above spiritual awakening signs, there is undoubtedly all kinds of reasons people can feel fatigue, energy shifts, depression, disconnected and what not.
Many people are literally trying to self-diagnose a lot of issues, and so we must be really very mindful about what we “blame” on awakening. When it comes to the body pains and discomfort, when in doubt, check in with a doctor to ensure that your body is generally healthy.

I want to be actually clear that just having some kind of breakdown is undoubtedly NOT awakening.
The changes someone makes in their external life are usually also not the point of this transformation. We are simply not trying to create a more perfect or better life; those are actually ego goals. We are learning to how to be simply free of ego.
To learn that and many other important spiritual lessons, we learn to listen to our awakened energy and sense how it directs us towards certain issues and changes that we need to make space for a radical spiritual transformation. In this way, it is truly revealed to us what we are definitely transforming into.
7 Spiritual Awakening Stages
The spiritual awakening process is usually complex, multi-layered, and different for everyone. In reality, it can not be literally fit into neat categories.
However, with that being simply said it is really helpful to have a kind of “map” to locate where you are truly at right now. The following stages are certainly general. They define the overall flow of the spiritual awakening process:
Stage 1– Unhappiness, despondency, and feeling lost
In this stage, you experience the aforementioned Dark Night of the Soul. This is normally a time of confusion, disconnection, alienation, depression, and great unhappiness with life. You are literally searching for something, but you don’t quite know what. There is certainly a great looming emptiness inside of you. This stage either emerges spontaneously or due to a life crisis (e.g. breakup, divorce, death, trauma, illness, major life change).
Stage 2– Shifting perspectives
In this stage, you set out seeing through the lies and delusions propagated by society. You no longer see life as you once did in your previous state of complacent unawareness.
Stage 3– Seeking answers and meaning
In this stage, you’re asking all the deep questions. You are certainly in search of your life purpose, spiritual destiny, and the meaning of life itself.
Stage 4– Finding answers and experiencing breakthroughs
You will feel a sense of expansion as old patterns dissolve and your true self (soul) begins to emerge. You can have a number of mystical experiences or brief moments of satori (enlightenment) that give you a glimpse into the ultimate nature of reality.
Stage 5– Disillusionment and feeling lost again
With the spiritual awakening process, there is always an ebb and a flow. In this stage, you become bored and tired of your spiritual teachers or practices. You might just become disillusioned by the faux spiritual BS out there and crave for something deeper.
Stage 6– Deeper interior work
In this stage, you are normally not interested in dabbling in feel-good spiritual philosophies or surface practices anymore. The abiding pain you feel inside motivates you to do deep inner work. You can become a serious student of meditation, mindfulness, ritual, inside child work, shadow work, body work or various other transpersonal philosophies.
Stage 7– Integration, expansion, joy
Integration means taking the spiritual lessons you’ve learned from your interior work and applying them to your daily life. Integration happens both naturally and consciously as a habit in deep spiritual practice. You may likely feel ready to be generally a spiritual mentor or role model in your community and pass on your insight to others.
Note: it is simply common to move back and forth between these spiritual awakening stages. Remember that this is literally not a linear process– you can not just move from A to B to C. This is simply a complex and messy path, so it is without a doubt perfectly fine if it doesn’t look like what I’ve described.

What Happens to my If I Become Spiritually Awake
The true spiritual path is certainly an ego peeler, and peeling away all these delusions and issues brings you closer to spiritual truth– truth such as you are literally here and now. Unlike other spiritual paths, true spirituality is undoubtedly often very mundane. It isn’t heavily decorated, and it isn’t complicated.
It is actually simple, direct, and clear.
Whenever your spiritual practices or beliefs get too complicated and especially if you think they’ll keep you safe, then this is definitely a good time to get out your ego peeler.
Launching running your awareness around the edges of your beliefs to find a way in and pull away another layer of ego. Each time you drop a layer of ego, the more conscious you become about who you are without a doubt and what life really is generally. In so doing, you find more space, openness, love, kindness, service, clarity, and much more within you. That is certainly the beauty of the ego peeler.
When we no longer seek the external world and spiritual paths to give us safety, we find that all the things we truly wanted were actually already within us.

Body memories, suppressed memories, images of past lives and/or parallel lives. We are generally healing and integrating all our “selves”, so expect to have some of these experiences.
