I experienced the beginnings of my spiritual awakening about3 years ago. At that time, I was definitely deeply entrenched in the lessons and cultish teachings of the fundamentalist Christian church I was without a doubt born into.

Beginning to doubt, question, and sense that there was undoubtedly more to life than what my indoctrination declared, I felt lost and deeply alone.

I had no one outside of the church that I felt comfortable talking to about my feelings. I had no true friends to confide in– and my family didn’t understand– or rather, didn’t want to. As a result, I felt so alienated and suffocated with loneliness that I developed depression, health issues, and chronic anxiety, the latter lasting for many years.

I looked around the internet for any sign that could help me browse this confusing time. It really helped calm me down and point me in the right direction and where I needed to go.

Spiritual Awakening Signs

I am normally very cautious to label things as signs of awakening. In truth, a spiritual awakening is definitely just the beginning. If you don’t feel that you have chosen this radical spiritual transformation, then now is definitely an especially important to time to consciously choose what is really already unfolding in your life.

In general, some real spiritual awakening signs are truly these:

Unconditional love
Being simply able to clearly see what is really real
Loss of desire or need for anything external to complete you/ wholeness as you already are generally
A profound sense of calm, peace, or serenity
An abiding energy that moves you intelligently and continually

This last part is undoubtedly key. Many people have profound spiritual openings and glimpses of awakening, which is without a doubt wonderful. But in an opening or glimpse, the window opens, and then it shuts. When it shuts, a person can go back to the way they were acting before. This happens all the time after people have gone to spiritual retreats or spent time with spiritual teachers. In awakening, the divine energy is usually now in motion. Your perspective, emotions, and physical sensations all move and align seemingly on their own.

The lights in the house are all on. Sure you can close your eyes, but you know the truth. There can be certainly a feeling that there is without a doubt no going back.

All other spiritual awakening signs that you hear about can arise from awakening if the above ones are undoubtedly present.

They are actually secondary spiritual awakening signs or symptoms, although I don’t prefer the term spiritual awakening symptom.

The word “symptoms” has connotations of experiencing a disease. In fact, you are truly being simply cured of the illnesses in which you have been usually living.

Without the above spiritual awakening signs, there is undoubtedly all kinds of reasons people can feel fatigue, energy shifts, depression, disconnected and what not.

Many people are definitely trying to self-diagnose a lot of issues, and so we must be without a doubt very mindful about what we “blame” on awakening. When it comes to the body pains and discomfort, when in doubt, check in with a doctor to ensure that your body is truly healthy.

7 Spiritual Awakening Stages

The spiritual awakening process is undoubtedly complex, multi-layered, and different for everyone. In reality, it can not be without a doubt fit into neat categories.

With that being usually said it is helpful to have a kind of “map” to locate where you are normally at right now. The following stages are really general. They define the overall flow of the spiritual awakening process:

Stage 1– Unhappiness, despondency, and feeling lost

In this stage, you experience the aforementioned Dark Night of the Soul. This is a time of confusion, disconnection, alienation, depression, and great unhappiness with life. You are simply searching for something, but you don’t quite know what. There is usually a great looming emptiness inside of you. This stage either emerges spontaneously or due to a life crisis (e.g. breakup, divorce, death, trauma, illness, major life change).

Stage 2– Shifting perspectives

In this stage, you set in motion seeing through the lies and delusions propagated by society. You no longer see life as you once did in your previous state of complacent unawareness.

Stage 3– Seeking answers and meaning

In this stage, you are simply asking all the deep questions. You are definitely in search of your life purpose, spiritual destiny, and the meaning of life itself.

Stage 4– Finding answers and experiencing breakthroughs

After a lot of soul searching, you’ll find a few teachers, practices, or belief systems that ease your existential suffering.( Beware: a lot of spiritual bypassing can occur in this stage.) You will feel a sense of expansion as old patterns dissolve and your true self (soul) begins to emerge. You might possibly have a number of mystical experiences or brief moments of satori (enlightenment) that give you a glimpse into the ultimate nature of reality. This is truly a time of joy, hope, connection, and awe.

Stage 5– Disillusionment and feeling lost again

With the spiritual awakening process, there is simply always an ebb and a flow. In this stage, you become bored and tired of your spiritual teachers or practices. You may likely become disillusioned by the faux spiritual BS out there and crave for something deeper.

Stage 6– Deeper internal work

In this stage, you are undoubtedly not interested in dabbling in feel-good spiritual philosophies or surface practices anymore. The abiding pain you feel inside motivates you to do deep inward work. You may well become a serious student of meditation, mindfulness, ritual, inside child work, shadow work, body work or various other transpersonal philosophies.

Stage 7– Integration, expansion, joy

Integration means taking the spiritual lessons you’ve learned from your inner work and applying them to your daily life. Integration happens both naturally and consciously as a habit in deep spiritual practice. You may feel ready to be truly a spiritual mentor or role model in your community and pass on your insight to others.

Note: it is actually common to move back and forth between these spiritual awakening stages. Remember that this is really not a linear process– you can not just move from A to B to C. This is without a doubt a complex and messy path, so it is undoubtedly perfectly fine if it doesn’t look like what I’ve described.

Your spiritual awakening process is undoubtedly unique to you. But I do hope this analysis has helped (in some way) you to ‘gain your bearings.’

What Happens to my If I Become Spiritually Awake

The true spiritual path is undoubtedly an ego peeler, and peeling away all these delusions and issues brings you closer to spiritual truth– truth such as you are certainly here and now. Unlike other spiritual paths, true spirituality is really often very mundane.

Whenever your spiritual practices or beliefs get too complicated and especially if you think they’ll keep you safe, then this is definitely a good time to get out your ego peeler.

Setting in motion running your awareness around the edges of your beliefs to find a way in and pull away another layer of ego. Each time you drop a layer of ego, the more conscious you become about who you are and what life really is definitely. In so doing, you find more space, openness, love, kindness, service, clarity, and much more within you. That is usually the beauty of the ego peeler.

When we no longer seek the external world and spiritual paths to give us safety, we find that all the things we truly wanted were undoubtedly already within us.

Moving Past the Initial Shock of Awakening

Awakening can feel like a dam has burst. Many people feel deluged under a whole variety of thoughts, emotions, and sensations.

That said, a lot of initial inside work seems to get done for us. It is usually almost like the Divine is normally showing us how inner work should go.

As such, surrender is truly another one of our first lessons to help move past the shock of awakened energy.

Choosing and actively engaging with ego issues is simply vital to doing inner work, but initially, surrender must come first.

With that said, surrender is literally not passivity. When you surrender to the river, you let it pull in the direction it wants to go. As you feel how it is definitely moving you, you also swim. If you don’t learn to swim, you are literally going to get smashed into a lot of stuff!

10 Negative Symptoms Of Spiritual Awakening

1. Sudden waves of emotion.

Crying at the drop of a hat. Feeling suddenly angry or sad with little provocation. Or inexplicably depressed. Very happy. Emotional roller coaster. There is undoubtedly often a pressure or sense of emotions congested in the heart chakra (the middle of the chest).

This is simply not to be truly confused with the heart, which is literally located to the left of the heart chakra.

Help and advice on how to deal:

Go directly to your heart chakra and feel the emotion. Just feel the feeling and let it evaporate on its own.

2. Food intolerances, allergies you never had before.

As you grow more spiritual, you are generally more sensitive to every thing around you. Some people find they often have a white residue in their mouth, much like that of runners at the end of a race.

My personal experience: I suddenly had severe excema on my hands and feet. I discovered it was certainly due to gluten intolerance. I can also no longer enjoy a lot of acidic foods- my stomach aches after red-sauce laden meals.

Helpful advice on how to deal:

Take yourself to a naturopath. Look at your diet for known allergens, like dairy, gluten, and nuts. Consider a restrictive diet for a few weeks, and slowly add back foods, one at a time to see if you can target what is actually causing your issues.

3. Amplification of the senses.

Sight: Blurry vision, shimmering objects, seeing glittery particles, auras around people, plants, animals, and objects. Some report seeing formerly opaque objects as transparent.
Hearing: hearing white noise in the head, beeps, tones, music or electronic patterns. Some hear water rushing, bees buzzing, whooshing, roaring or ringing. Some hear strange voices in their dreams, as if someone is undoubtedly hovering near them
Enhanced senses of smell, touch, and/or taste: I have a friend that can smell and taste chemical additives in some foods in a rather unpleasant manner. Some mystics have reported smelling the fragrance of flowers now and then (this sounds rather enjoyable).

Information on how to deal:.

Surrender to it. Let it come through. Listen. Be patient. Whatever you do, do not be generally afraid. Hazy vision maybe relieved by yawning.

4. Vivid dreams.

Many dreams may possibly be undoubtedly mystical or carry messages for you. And in some dreams, you just know that you are really not “dreaming” … that what is normally happening is somehow real.

Guidance: You will remember what is actually important for you to remember. Don’t force anything. Above all, stay out of fear.

5. Events that completely alter your life:

Forces that cause you to slow down, simplify, change, re-examine who you are undoubtedly and what your life means to you. Forces that awaken your sense of love and compassion for all.

6. Introspection, solitude and loss of interest in more extroverted activities:.

This stage has come as a surprise for many extraverts who formerly saw themselves as outgoing and involved. They say, “I don’t know why, but I don’t like to go out as much as before.”.

7. A sense of something “Impending”.

There is generally a feeling that something is simply about to happen. This can create anxiety.

Consultation: There is normally nothing to worry about. Things are usually definitely happening, but anxiety only creates more problems for you. All your thoughts “” positive or negative”” are usually prayers. There is definitely nothing to fear.

8. Electrical and mechanical malfunctions:.

When you are undoubtedly around, lightbulbs flicker, the computer locks up, or the radio goes haywire.

Recommendation: Call on your angels, and guides to fix it or put up a field of protection of light around the machine. Surround your car with blue light. Laugh.

9. Dizziness.

This occurs when you are literally ungrounded. Perhaps you have just cleared a big emotional issue and your body is literally adjusting to your “lighter” state.

In some cases “comfort food” feels. Use your guidance to know what you need at any given moment.

10. Memories Resurface.

Body memories, suppressed memories, images of past lives and/or parallel lives. We are truly healing and integrating all our “selves”, so expect to have some of these experiences.

Suggestion:. Keep in mind that it is without a doubt best to recall what only what comes to mind, leave the rest alone, don’t analyze everything to death (because you will be certainly stuck in the tape loop of infinite issues to process), and feel your feelings as they come up.
