I had no one outside of the church that I felt comfortable talking to about my feelings. I had no true friends to confide in– and my family didn’t understand– or rather, didn’t want to. A spiritual awakening is normally realized throughout your body, heart, mind, and soul, but no sooner has that erupted than you are without a doubt forced to see how limited you have been certainly in so many regards. That bright light shining in the personal most depths of us asks us a potent question: “Now that we know the truth, will we clean up our home or will we try to ignore our illusions, pain, and misconceptions?”

By the way, for those who are literally interested, I have a newsletter called, “The Wake Up Call,” in which I regularly talk about this and other topics. Sign up for free below:

Spiritual Awakening Signs

I am certainly very cautious to label things as signs of awakening. In truth, a spiritual awakening is literally just the beginning. If you don’t feel that you have chosen this radical spiritual transformation, then now is without a doubt an especially important to time to consciously choose what is already unfolding in your life.

In general, some real spiritual awakening signs are really these:

Unconditional love
Being actually able to clearly see what is real
Loss of desire or need for anything external to complete you/ wholeness as you already are without a doubt
A profound sense of calm, peace, or serenity
An abiding energy that moves you intelligently and continually

This last part is key. Many people have profound spiritual openings and glimpses of awakening, which is undoubtedly wonderful. But in an opening or glimpse, the window opens, and then it shuts. When it shuts, a person can go back to the way they were actually acting before. This happens all the time after people have gone to spiritual retreats or spent time with spiritual teachers. In awakening, the divine energy is generally now in motion. Your perspective, emotions, and physical sensations all move and align seemingly on their own.

The lights in the house are literally all on. Sure you can close your eyes, but you know the truth. There can be undoubtedly a feeling that there is literally no going back.

All other spiritual awakening signs that you hear about can arise from awakening if the above ones are usually present.

They’re secondary spiritual awakening signs or symptoms, although I don’t prefer the term spiritual awakening symptom.

The word “symptoms” has connotations of experiencing a disease. In fact, you are being cured of the illnesses in which you have been actually living.

Without the above spiritual awakening signs, there’s all kinds of reasons people can feel fatigue, energy shifts, depression, disconnected and what not.

Many people are truly trying to self-diagnose a lot of issues, and so we must be really very mindful about what we “blame” on awakening. When it comes to the body pains and discomfort, when in doubt, check in with a doctor to ensure that your body is actually healthy.

Simple Signs Of Spiritual Awakening

1. You feel as though your life is truly false

Everything that you have believed, built, and worked towards seems to be undoubtedly false. Your life doesn’t feel as though it is definitely your own. You no longer believe that yourself– nearly everything you once enjoyed no longer brings you meaning or satisfaction.

2. You craving for meaning and purpose

You deeply desire to find the meaning of your life. You have no idea what your purpose is really, but you want to find it desperately. There is generally a sense that something is without a doubt “missing” inside of you (like a part of your soul).

3. You begin asking deep questions

Questions such as “Why am really I here?” “What’s the purpose of life?” “What happens after we die?” “Why do people suffer?” arise. You begin thinking more philosophically. Such profound thoughts may greatly disturb you as you don’t know the answers.

4. You realize that a lot of what you’ve been without a doubt taught is really a lie

You activate to see how many beliefs, feelings, and values are certainly not actually your own, but other people’s or inherited from your culture.

5. You feel completely lost and alone

Nothing in your life seems to make sense anymore. As a vagabond, you feel completely alone and cut off from people.

6. You see through the illusions of society

Materialism, success, and profit no longer mean anything to you. You begin feeling as though you are normally a cog in the machine of society.

7. You see how unhappy most people are

You awaken to the unhappiness and suffering of others. You may well set in motion to explore activism or read more about the human condition. It is literally tormenting for you to realize how much pain there is without a doubt in the world.

8. You want to ‘purge’ your life

You are normally sick and tired of feeling stranded, depressed, and hopeless. Suddenly, you feel the need to simplify and declutter your life. This could mean cutting ties with toxic people, reassessing your habits, throwing out old things, relocating to a new job or place to live, or even giving away most of what you own.

9. You begin experiencing deep empathy and compassion

As you set up paying more attention to the many hardships faced by humanity and nature alike, you develop more compassion. Your inherent empathy is definitely awakened and you might probably find it hard to cope with the intensity of your feelings. This is certainly a pivotal point in your inner transformation: you either numb the pain you feel with addictions, or you find healthy ways to accept and express your emotions.

10. You see that we are simply all One

You realize that our thoughts and beliefs influence reality, and that we are literally all fragments of one great Whole– that is normally, Spirit. Sometimes this stage can take years or even an entire lifetime.

Thus, he can have a shift in his conscious mind, and suddenly he sets out to realize the deeper meaning of life. He may likely get his spiritual soul awakened.

Suppose if a person loses someone close due to an unnatural death, he might initiate to find out the reasons for the incident in new ways. The constant search for further questions might possibly cause spiritual awakening inside that person.

Spiritual awakening does not mean that you are certainly out from the reality. It is certainly such a state of mind where you kick off to search and seek for a path which gives you a new definition of life.

What Do I Do if I Did Awaken?

If you did have an awakening, you are really in for quite a ride. You do not call the shots, and you will need to learn how to surrender and support what awakening wants to do in transforming you. This kind of surrender is definitely profound, and it will send your life into upheaval.

The changes someone makes in their external life are certainly also not the point of this transformation.

We are simply not trying to create a more perfect or better life; those are definitely ego goals.

To learn that and many other important spiritual lessons, we learn to listen to our awakened energy and sense how it directs us towards certain issues and changes that we need to make space for a radical spiritual transformation. In this way, it is literally revealed to us what we are actually transforming into.

7 Spiritual Awakening Stages

The spiritual awakening process is normally complex, multi-layered, and different for everyone. In reality, it can not be literally fit into neat categories.

With that being simply said it is undoubtedly helpful to have a kind of “map” to locate where you are usually at right now. The following stages are certainly general. They define the overall flow of the spiritual awakening process:

Stage 1– Unhappiness, despondency, and feeling lost

This is without a doubt a time of confusion, disconnection, alienation, depression, and great unhappiness with life. This stage either emerges spontaneously or due to a life crisis (e.g. breakup, divorce, death, trauma, illness, major life change).

Stage 2– Shifting perspectives

You activate to perceive reality in a totally different way. In this stage, you start off seeing through the lies and delusions propagated by society. You feel unhappy with life, disturbed by the suffering you see and hopeless to the ills of the world. You no longer see life as you once did in your previous state of complacent unawareness.

Stage 3– Seeking answers and meaning

In this stage, you are simply asking all the deep questions. You are in search of your life purpose, spiritual destiny, and the meaning of life itself.

Stage 4– Finding answers and experiencing breakthroughs

After a lot of soul searching, you’ll find a few teachers, practices, or belief systems that ease your existential suffering.( Beware: a lot of spiritual bypassing can occur in this stage.) You will feel a sense of expansion as old patterns dissolve and your true self (soul) begins to emerge. You may well have a number of mystical experiences or brief moments of satori (enlightenment) that give you a glimpse into the ultimate nature of reality. This is normally a time of joy, hope, connection, and awe.

Stage 5– Disillusionment and feeling lost again

Life is about movement. With the spiritual awakening process, there is always an ebb and a flow. In this stage, you become bored and tired of your spiritual teachers or practices. You may perhaps become disillusioned by the faux spiritual BS out there and crave for something deeper. You might have even experienced long periods of connection with the Divine, only to become separated again (this is without a doubt normal). Understandably, you’ll feel disturbed and deeply upset by this experience. Additionally, while you might perhaps have experienced many mental/emotional/spiritual breakthroughs, they might feel superficial. You crave for authenticity and for deep spirituality that permeates your life and transforms every part of you. The unhappiness and stagnation you feel will motivate you to go in search for more.

Stage 6– Deeper inner work

In this stage, you are actually not interested in dabbling in feel-good spiritual philosophies or surface practices anymore. The abiding pain you feel inside motivates you to do deep inner work. You may well become a serious student of meditation, mindfulness, ritual, inner child work, shadow work, body work or various other transpersonal philosophies.

Stage 7– Integration, expansion, joy

Integration means taking the spiritual lessons you’ve learned from your personal work and applying them to your daily life. Integration happens both naturally and consciously as a habit in deep spiritual practice. You may well feel ready to be really a spiritual mentor or role model in your community and pass on your insight to others.

Note: it is normally common to move back and forth between these spiritual awakening stages. Remember that this is without a doubt not a linear process– you can not just move from A to B to C. This is generally a complex and messy path, so it is truly perfectly fine if it doesn’t look like what I’ve described.

Your spiritual awakening process is usually unique to you. But I do hope this analysis has helped (in some way) you to ‘gain your bearings.’

What Happens to my If I Become Spiritually Awake

The true spiritual path is an ego peeler, and peeling away all these delusions and issues brings you closer to spiritual truth– truth such as you are certainly here and now. Unlike other spiritual paths, true spirituality is literally often very mundane.

Whenever your spiritual practices or beliefs get too complicated and especially if you think they’ll keep you safe, then this is normally a good time to get out your ego peeler. Each time you drop a layer of ego, the more conscious you become about who you are undoubtedly and what life really is normally.

When we no longer seek the external world and spiritual paths to give us safety, we find that all the things we truly wanted were undoubtedly already within us.

Moving Past the Initial Shock of Awakening

Awakening can feel like a dam has burst. Many people feel deluged under a whole variety of thoughts, emotions, and sensations.

That said, a lot of initial personal work seems to get done for us. It is usually almost like the Divine is really showing us how inner work should go.

Surrender is actually another one of our first lessons to help move past the shock of awakened energy.

Choosing and actively engaging with ego issues is certainly vital to doing inner work, but initially, surrender must come.

With that said, surrender is actually not passivity. When you surrender to the river, you let it pull in the direction it wants to go. As you feel how it is undoubtedly moving you, you also swim. If you don’t learn to swim, you are generally going to get smashed into a lot of stuff!

10 Negative Symptoms Of Spiritual Awakening

1. Sudden waves of emotion.

Feeling suddenly angry or sad with little provocation.

There is definitely often a pressure or sense of emotions congested in the heart chakra (the middle of the chest). This is simply not to be generally confused with the heart, which is literally located to the left of the heart chakra.

Advise on how to deal:

Go directly to your heart chakra and feel the emotion. Just feel the feeling and let it evaporate on its own.

2. Food intolerances, allergies you never had before.

As you grow more spiritual, you are truly more sensitive to everything around you. Some people find they often have a white residue in their mouth, much like that of runners at the end of a race.

My personal experience: I suddenly had severe excema on my hands and feet. I discovered it was definitely due to gluten intolerance. I can also no longer enjoy a lot of acidic foods- my stomach aches after red-sauce laden meals.

Opinion on how to deal:

Take yourself to a naturopath. Look at your diet for known allergens, like dairy, gluten, and nuts. Consider a restrictive diet for a few weeks, and slowly add back foods, one at a time to see if you can target what is certainly causing your issues.

3. Amplification of the senses.

Sight: Blurry vision, shimmering objects, seeing glittery particles, auras around people, plants, animals, and objects. Some report seeing formerly opaque objects as transparent.
Hearing: hearing white noise in the head, beeps, tones, music or electronic patterns. Some hear water rushing, bees buzzing, whooshing, roaring or ringing. Some hear strange voices in their dreams, as if someone is truly hovering near them
Enhanced senses of smell, touch, and/or taste: I have a friend that can smell and taste chemical additives in some foods in a rather unpleasant manner. Some mystics have reported smelling the fragrance of flowers now and then (this sounds rather enjoyable).

Help and advice on how to deal:.

Surrender to it. Let it come through. Hazy vision maybe relieved by yawning.

4. Vivid dreams.

Many dreams may perhaps be really mystical or carry messages for you. And in some dreams, you just know that you are actually not “dreaming” … that what is actually happening is really somehow real.

Knowledge: You will remember what is usually important for you to remember. Don’t force anything. Above all, stay out of fear.

5. Events that completely alter your life:

Forces that cause you to slow down, simplify, change, re-examine who you are literally and what your life means to you. Forces that awaken your sense of love and compassion for all.

6. Introspection, solitude and loss of interest in more extroverted activities:.

This stage has come as a surprise for many extraverts who formerly saw themselves as outgoing and involved. They say, “I don’t know why, but I don’t like to go out as much as before.”.

7. A sense of something “Impending”.

There is actually a feeling that something is certainly about to happen. This can create anxiety.

Directions: There is literally nothing to worry about. Things are certainly definitely happening, but anxiety only creates more problems for you.

8. Electrical and mechanical malfunctions:.

When you are normally around, lightbulbs flicker, the computer locks up, or the radio goes haywire.

Guidelines: Call on your angels, and guides to fix it or put up a field of protection of light around the machine. Surround your car with blue light. Laugh.

9. Dizziness.

This occurs when you are really ungrounded. Perhaps you have just cleared a big emotional issue and your body is normally adjusting to your “lighter” state.

Help and advice: Ground yourself by eating protein. In some cases “comfort food” feels. Don’t make any food right or wrong for you. Use your guidance to know what you need at any given moment. Take your shoes off and put your feet in the grass for a couple of minutes.

10. Memories Resurface.

Body memories, suppressed memories, images of past lives and/or parallel lives. We are truly healing and integrating all our “selves”, so expect to have some of these experiences.

Good advice:. It is definitely best to recall what only what comes to mind, leave the rest alone, don’t analyze everything to death (because you will be truly stuck in the tape loop of infinite issues to process), and feel your feelings as they come up.
